A trio of buildings in Birmingham city centre have today won regional awards.
Centre City, Energy Systems Catapult and The Colmore Building have been recognised as some of the best workplaces in the Midlands and central England at the annual British Council for Offices (BCO) regional awards.
They will now go forward to compete against other regional winners at the national BCO awards in October.
The annual BCO awards programme recognises the highest-quality developments in the UK office sector.
Making up the trio of Birmingham winners is the The Colmore Building which has undergone a programme of renovation and rebranding, from Colmore Plaza, following its acquisition by AshbyCapital in 2015.
BCO judges praised the £3.3 million enhancement programme which has turned a “good but tired building into a great, modern base for businesses” with a new cycle hub and ground floor café among the work carried out.
The other winners were:
Best corporate workplace
Marston’s House, Wolverhampton
Alconbury Weald Club, Huntingdon
The Officers’ Mess Business Centre, Cambridge

The Colmore Building becomes first in Birmingham to receive a Wiredscore Platinum rating
We are very excited to announce that The Colmore Building has become the first building in the city to be Wired Certified, under the international digital connectivity rating scheme run by Wiredscore.
The building has achieved the Wired Certified Platinum rating – the highest possible – marking its technology infrastructure as amongst the best in the UK.
Added to our unmatched range of amenities – including the gym, treatment rooms, bicycle parking, luxury changing rooms, drying room, and the &More Coffee House – the Wired Certified Platinum rating is the icing on the cake for us.
The building secured its rating by providing three unique sources of fibre, a fixed wireless provider, best-in-class levels of resiliency to reduce the impact on occupiers of any potential disruption, and free Wi-Fi throughout communal areas.
